CONCORDIA — LeRoy Workman, 83, of Concordia died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Sunset Home in Concordia.
He was born June 23, 1929, in Elk Falls to Plesie and Gladys (Goss) Workman. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He attended what is now Fort Hays State University. He later earned a master's and education specialist degrees from Emporia State University in computer programming. He was an agent for Farmer's Insurance Group.
He married Thelma Starr on Sept. 1, 1957, in Towanda. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2009.
Survivors include two children, Sylvia Schmidt of Mount Hope and Valorie Starr of Sterling; three grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Truster of Muskogee, Okla., and DeLoma Kay Griggs of Parsons; and a brother, Robert Workman of Muskogee, Okla.
He also was preceded in death by two sisters.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Concordia. A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Towanda Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Nutter Mortuary in Concordia, where family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be left with First United Methodist Church or Sunset Home and left in care of the funeral home.
