She was born on Oct. 15, 1922, in La Porte, Ind., to Felix and Teresa (Pinazza) Paluszynski. She attended La Porte High School and resided in La Porte until moving to Parsons in August 1960.
On Oct. 18, 1941, she married Robert L. “Bob” Debald in La Porte. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2009.
Mrs. Debald was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons. She was an active member of the Labette County Medical Center (now Labette Health) Auxiliary for 19 years, logging more than 18,000 hours. She enjoyed sewing, growing house plants and knitting, especially caps for the newborn babies at the hospital. For 18 years she coordinated a group of ladies in making the caps for the babies.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Roths and her husband, Leon, of Wichita; six grandchildren, Sean Debald and his wife, Tracy, of Parsons, Ty Smith and his wife, Cathi, of Augusta, Scott Schwarzenberger, Anne Ciemny and her husband, Craig, Laura Lehmer and her husband, Matt, all of Wichita, and Mark Schwarzenberger and his wife, Kerry, of Park City; seven great-grandchildren; and a niece, Christine Wilson and her husband, Norman, of Michigan City, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Robert H. Debald, on Jan. 22, 2003; two sisters; two infant grandchildren; and a great-grandson, Carter Schwarzenberger.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be at a later date at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends at 9 a.m. Thursday in the St. Patrick’s parish hall, and the Rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. Thursday in the church.
Memorials are suggested to either St. Patrick’s or the American Heart Association.
