OSWEGO — Robert “Bob” D. Allison Jr., 80, of Oswego died on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his home.

He was born on Jan. 8, 1933, to Robert D. Sr. and Mildred Bell (Williams) Allison at the home of his parents in rural Oswego. He attended country schools in rural Oswego, graduating from Oswego High School in 1951.

He served proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1959.

He worked as a milk hauler, carpenter, school bus driver and custodian until his retirement. He drove many school bus loads of Oswego High School seniors from Oswego to Pensacola, Fla., for senior trips.

He lived most of his life in the Oswego area with the exception of several years living on Grand Lake.

He married Shirley Kay Dains in 1952, and they had three children. They later divorced.

He married Kay Belknap in 1981. She preceded him in death in November 2008.

He was a member of Mound Valley Methodist Church.

Survivors include three children, Mike Allison and his wife, Susan, of Parsons, Donnie Allison and his wife, Janie, of Oswego and Kim Atkins and her husband, Colin, of Dennis; three stepchildren, Debbie (Belknap) Fouts and her husband, Dean, of Mound Valley, Joe Belknap of Chetopa and Kim Belknap of Fort Scott; six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Stice and Inez Bowman, both of Oswego.

The graveside service with full military rites will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oswego Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Derfelt Funeral Home in Oswego.
