CHANUTE — L. Ollideen Wright, 95, of Chanute, a former Thayer resident, died at 1:35 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Chanute Healthcare Center. She had been in failing health.

She was born on March 11, 1917, at Savonburg to Frank and Anna (Jordan) Stierwalt. She grew up at Savonburg and attended Savonburg schools, graduating from Savonburg High School.

She moved to Topeka and worked at a clothing store for a few years before moving back to Savonburg, where she worked at the Kansas Ordnance Plant.

She married William “Scotty” Wright on July 5, 1943, at Girard. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1995.

They moved to Thayer in 1947, and she was a homemaker and cared for her sons. She moved to Wichita in 2001 and lived at Georgetown Village Retirement Center. She moved to Chanute Healthcare Center in 2009.

She was a member of Thayer United Methodist Church and the church women’s group. She was also a member of the O.E.S. Thayer Chapter, the Thayer Reading Club and the Thayer Library.

Survivors include three sons, Gary Wright, and his wife, Karen of Coralville, Iowa, J. Alan Wright and his wife, Linda, of Derby, and Charles Wright, and his wife, Barbara, of Thayer; four granddaughters, Tara Gossett, Sheila Vasquez, Angela Dial and Debra Richards; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorannie Swanson and Betty Lymon.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Thayer United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Thayer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Friends may call Tuesday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home or Wednesday at the church.
