CHERRYVALE — Donald C. Stacy, 82, of Cherryvale died on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at his home.

Donald Clyde Stacy was born on Feb. 24, 1930, in Labette County to Clarence Stacy and Essie (Frew) Stacy. He grew up in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1948.

He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 10, 1948, until honorably discharged Sept. 11, 1951, attaining the rank of sergeant.

On Aug. 29, 1952, at Pasco, Wash., he married Margarette Townsell. They later divorced.

He married Helen (Hall) Smith in Parsons in 2004. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2012.

Donald was a self-employed mechanic and owner/operator truck driver for over 25 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Cherryvale and VFW in Parsons.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Stacy Jr. and Mark Anthony Stacy, both of Pilot Point, Texas; two daughters, Mary Louise Stacy and Michele Stacy, both of Salem, Ore.; a brother, LeRoy Bud Stacy of Cherryvale; a sister, Betty Stacy of Cherryvale; a sister-in-law, Rose Housel of Cherryvale; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Brown of Parsons; four grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; a great-grandson; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 E. Fourth St., Cherryvale. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Military rites will be conducted by a detachment from Fort Riley. The family will have a private burial at Spring Hill Cemetery south of Parsons.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and may be left at the funeral home.
