McCUNE — Rosa M. (Munoz) Smith, 54, of McCune died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at the home of her son in McCune.

She was born on June 1, 1958, in Barrington, Ill., to Enrique and Juanita (Munoz) Carrillo. At 13 days of age, she was brought to Parsons, raised and later adopted by her uncle and aunt, Prudencio and Sara Munoz. She grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School. She later attended Labette Community College and Pittsburg State University.

Through the years, she worked at Braum’s, Country Mart and Ron’s IGA.

She was a Catholic. She loved to dance and sing, was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, had a wonderful sense of humor and especially enjoyed being outdoors.

She married Timothy Smith on Aug. 2, 1980. They later divorced.

Survivors include a son, Matthew Eugene Smith of McCune; a daughter, Juanita Irene Young of Arma; two grandchildren, Chasity and Braden Young; seven brothers, Matthew Carrillo of Parsons, Larry Carrillo, Jose Carrillo of Horton, Rafael Munoz of Tucson, Ariz., Prudencio Munoz of Burlington, Antonio Munoz of Parsons and Manuel Munoz of El Dorado; four sisters, Rose Carmel Munoz of Wichita, Maria Munoz-Mansfield of Hinsdale, Ill., Clara Hinte of Scarborough, W.V., and Teresa Carrillo; and a dear friend, “El Chino.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister and two children.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in McCune Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons, where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
