She was born on June 29, 1929, in Centralia, Okla., to Delbert Howard and Lydia May (Bell) Kirk. She grew up and attended school near Miami, Okla.
Through the years, she lived in Southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma. She pastored at various churches including Chetopa and Mound Valley and was a member of Lighthouse Tabernacle in Mound Valley.
She enjoyed writing songs and poems, playing the piano and guitar, doing crafts, cooking, sewing and quilting.
On March 14, 1983, she married Robert K. Eckles. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Floyd Ash and his wife, Tina, of Oswego; two daughters, Patricia Swenson of Lowell, Ark., and Loretta Wittner and her husband, Ed, of Joplin; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Kirk of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Howard Kirk of Coffeyville; two sisters, Bonnie Cox, of Miami, Okla., and Lawanda Delmont of Galena.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, a son and a great-grandchild.
The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
