He was born March 27, 1955, in Kansas City, Kan., to Juanita Ruth Lopez. As a young boy, he lived with Luciana L. Reyes and his Aunt Mary C. Reyes in Parsons, where he grew up and attended school.
In the past, he had worked as a painter with Leroy Murdock in Parsons.
Survivors include his mother, Juanita Lopez, of Kansas City, Kan.; a son, Brandon Lopez of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Andrew Lopez of Kansas City, Mo., and Raymond Lopez of Kansas City, Kan.; and two sisters, Gloria Hatmaker of Hubert, N.C., and Carmen Haflich of Kansas City, Kan.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Lopez.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. today at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons, where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
