David E. Finley, 44, of Parsons died at 10:23 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.

He was born on June 20, 1968, in Alhambra, Calif., to Holger Duane and Sharon Lee (Call) Finley. He graduated from Casa Roble High School in Orangevale, Calif., and also attended college while living in California. He also served in the Oklahoma Tulsa Mission two years for the LDS Church.

On Dec. 30, 1993, he married Crystal Daniels in Salt Lake City. Following marriage, they lived in the Sacramento area before moving to Parsons in 1998. He had worked various jobs while living in Parsons, including Dayton Superior, until his health failed.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, writing poetry and drawing. He loved all kinds of music, playing basketball and visiting the ocean. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and being involved in their activities.

Survivors include his wife, Crystal Finley, of the home in Parsons; four sons, Jayce, Derek, Baxter and David W. Finley of the home; a daughter, Heather Finley of the home; his father, Duane Finley of Utah; three brothers, Paul Finley and Steven Finley, both of Utah, and Mike Finley of Texas; and a sister, Jenny Madsen of Utah.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Valinda Finley.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3529 Gabriel, Parsons. Burial will be at McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Finley Children’s Fund and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, 67357.
