Michael W. “Mike” Chapman, 60, of Parsons died Monday morning, Sept. 3, 2012, at his home.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1952, at Wichita to George W. and Betty J. (Cheves) Chapman. He grew up at Wichita and attended Wichita schools, graduating from Wichita South High School.

He lived in various places over the years and worked in the tire industry until an injury forced his retirement. He then attended Devry University in Kansas City, Mo., and obtained a degree in electronics. He went on to work for Sony and Radio Shack until his health forced his retirement from the electronics industry in 2000. He moved to Parsons in 2001.

He married Dee Shaughnessy on Nov. 9, 1976, at Miami, Okla. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2009.

Survivors include his parents, George and Betty Chapman of Toronto, Kan.; his brother, Stanley Chapman of Wichita; two sisters, Sandra “Sandy” Delucia of Toronto and Patti Chapman of Atlanta; six nephews; two great-nephews; and two great-nieces.

Following cremation, the family will conduct a private service at a later date.
