Derek James Mosier, 20, of Parsons died early Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, in Parsons. His death was unexpected.
He was born on July 3, 1988, at Parsons to Brian K. and Karen L. (Peters) Mosier. He grew up at Parsons and attended Parsons schools, completing his education in 2005.
He was currently employed at T.H. Rogers Lumber, where he worked in the lumber yard and in delivery.
His passion was his blue 1969 Chevy Camaro. He enjoyed classic cars, drag racing, going to Mo-Kan races and working on cars. In younger years, he played soccer and Babe Ruth baseball and enjoyed fishing. Derek had a kind, quiet, gentle spirit and this was demonstrated through his generosity as an organ donor.
His survivors include his parents, Brian and Karen Mosier of the home; his brother, Brad Mosier of Parsons; his nephew and "Buddy," Bradyn Mosier of Parsons; paternal grandmother, Barbara Mosier of Parsons; aunts and uncles, Kevin Mosier and his wife, Debbie Mosier of Parsons, Sally Mosier of Parsons, Mike Peters of Parsons and Bob Peters of the New Orleans area; cousins, Ryan Mosier, Matthew Mosier, Samantha Mosier, Tim Peters, April Billington, Jenny Peters, Ryan Peters and Megan Peters.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lloyd J. "Jim" Peters and Betty Peters; his paternal grandfather, Bob Mosier; his uncles, Greg Mosier, David Mosier and Dale Mosier; and an aunt, Julie Anne Mosier.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
