HERMISTON, Ore. -- Aileen Ware, 86, of Hermiston, Ore., died Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland.

She was born Sept. 1, 1922, in Wichita to Guy and Ruth (Cross) Wertz. She graduated from Mound Valley High School in 1940.

She married Cecil Ware on Oct. 19, 1940, in Mound Valley.

She later worked for Sears Roebuck in Hermiston, Ore., as a credit manager.

Survivors include a son, Leonard; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Smith of Parsons; and a brother, Tom Terhune of Grand Junction, Colo.

A son, John Alan Ware, has been missing in action in Vietnam since 1969.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, on Oct. 19, 1992.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hermiston Christian Center in Hermiston, Ore. A private family burial will take place at the Hermiston Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hermiston Christian Center School.
