OSWEGO -- Jo Newmyer, 86, of Oswego died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009.

She was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Medford, Okla., to Francis and Albert "Shorty" Burrows. Her mother died when she was an infant and she was raised by her father and stepmother, Zoe "NaNa," who later adopted Jo. She is a 1941 graduate of Oswego High School.

She married Glenn E. Lytle on Oct. 12, 1946. He died in the mid-1960s.

On June 27, 1988, she married Lowell "Red" Newmyer. He preceded her in death Oct. 18, 2008.

Before retiring, she worked at Leisure Manor in Utiqa Square in Tulsa.

Survivors include a daughter, Sara Lytle of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Oswego United Methodist Church, 204 Illinois. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to Oswego High School's Zoe Burrows Scholarship Fund and these may be sent to Murdock Funeral Home, 203 Illinois, Oswego.
