KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Joseph A. Garner, 19, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Parsons, died on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

He attended Johnson County Community College with the intention of pursuing a culinary degree.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Suzan Garner; his adoptive father, Dr. Stephen H. Christy; five brothers, Christopher, Cody and Devon Garner and John and Andrew Christy; his grandfather, Earl Stuart; and his grandmothers, Denise Young and Susan Danati.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Elijah Garner; and his grandmother, Dolly Mae Stuart.

The service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Stine & McClure Chapel in Kansas City, Mo. Memorials are suggested to the Save Home or the KU Medical Center.
