OSWEGO — Noble E. Green, 86, of Oswego died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, at his home following an illness.
He was born Oct. 13, 1925, in Pryor, Okla., Altie and Mable (Jones) Green. He had lived in the Oswego area since moving there as a teenager.
He worked in construction. He was employed several years for Freeto Construction Co,. Pittsburg. He later worked as a superintendent for the Muller Construction Co., Coffeyville. He was a farmer and a cattleman.
He was a member of the Oswego Christian Church, Oswego, the American Angus Association and the American Black and Tan Kennel Association. As a young man, he enjoyed chicken fighting and rodeo. He also enjoyed hunting, especially with his coon dogs.
He married Daphna B. Watson on Sept. 8, 1945. She died Nov. 1, 2011.
Survivors include a son, Lee Green and his wife, Jennie, of Oswego; a daughter, Beth Wells and her husband, Warren, of Pittsburg; four grandchildren, Rachael Green, Eban Green, Shannon Tow and Nathan Wells and his wife, Lisa; five great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Betty Ketterman of Wichita, Shirley McCleary of Miami, Okla., Marilyn Tedlock of Hallowell and Jessie Fewin of Newton.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley Green, J.R. Green and David Green; and a sister, Bonnie Green.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oswego Cemetery with Pastor Phil Hays officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Derfelt Funeral Home in Oswego.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice in care of the funeral home.
