CHETOPA — John B. Wulf Jr., 51, of Chetopa passed away at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 28, 1960, in Oswego to John B. Wulf Sr. and Betty J. (Rue) Wulf. As a child, the family lived in England, New York and California while his father was serving in the United States Air Force. Upon returning to Southeast Kansas, he graduated in 1979 from Labette County High School in Altamont. After high school, he served in the National Guard from 1979 to 1986.
He and Anita Willmschen were married April 18, 1981, in Miami, Okla. Their 31-year marriage was filled with true love and happiness beyond words. To this union was born a daughter, Amber, who was the light of her father’s life.
John worked in metal fabrication throughout his adult life and was currently employed at Power Flame in Parsons where he had worked the past 24 years.
He cherished spending time with his wife, daughter, and two granddaughters who affectionately called him “Papa.” He also enjoyed his dogs and his Harley Davidson motorcycle. John was always concerned for the well-being of others and has given the gift of life as a donor and, in his memory, his hair will be given to Locks of Love.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Wulf of the home; a daughter, Amber Wulf and her companion, Joseph Bond, of Chetopa; two granddaughters, Savanah and Breanna Bond; his mother, Betty J. Wulf and her companion, Bennie Dominguez, of Columbus; a sister, Rebecca Darker and her husband, Mark, of Columbus; two brothers, Cedric Gonzales and his wife, Lisa, of Claremore, Okla., and Ernest Wulf and his wife, Stacy, of Chetopa; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Patty Darnell and her husband, Rick, of Chetopa, and Wanda Rexwinkle and her husband, David, of Mound Valley.
He was preceded in death by his father, John B. Wulf Sr.; his father-in-law, Marion “Sunshine” Bascue; and his mother-in-law, Juanita Bascue.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
