Donna Heady
Donna Heady, 74, of rural Parsons died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at her home. She had been in failing health.
She was born Dec. 30, 1934, in Dennis to Titus and Leona (Good) Schneider. As a young girl, she attended elementary school in Dennis. She later attended Parsons Junior High School, was a graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont and attended Parsons Junior College.
She married Marvin Decow on Dec. 29, 1950. They later divorced. She married Glen Heady on Nov. 21, 1980, in Independence. Following their marriage, she moved from Dennis, her hometown of 40 years, to rural Parsons, where they made their family home.
In 1971, she began her employment as a respiratory technician at Labette County Medical Center in Parsons and continued working there until 1981. Her hobbies included reading, studying the Bible and raising pugs. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother and adoring grandmother. She was the best mom ever to her three daughters, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Glen, of the home; three daughters, Rita Marlene Bernd of Cherryvale, Linda Lee Barragar and Lori Joy Madl, both of Parsons; six grandchildren, Danny Bernd, Darren Bernd, Brent Barragar, Aaron Barragar, Shane Garretson and Brock Madl; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Clair Schneider of Parsons; and a sister, Una Dixon of Wichita.
She was preceded in death by two infant brothers; a brother, Ralph Schneider, on March 15, 2008; a sister, Ula Schneider, on Jan. 31; and a half sister, Dorothy McIntire.
Following cremation, a private family committal service will be held with burial in Harmony Grove Cemetery in rural Dennis.

Harold L. Axtell
CLIMAX SPRINGS, Mo. -- Harold L. Axtell, 81, of Climax Springs, Mo., formerly of Altamont, died at 7:25 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Mo.

Jimmie Johnston
EDNA -- Jimmie Johnston, 80, of rural Edna died at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Betty Johnston, of the home.
The service is tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Bartlett Methodist Church. Burial will be in Lake Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.

David Hamblin
Norma Hamblin
MUNDELEIN, Ill. -- David Hamblin, 87, and Norma (Cook) Hamblin, 83, both of Mundelein, died this week at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Ill. He died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, and she died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009.
Norma Cook was born May 4, 1925, in Montana. David Hamblin was born Jan. 25, 1922, in Mineral.
The couple were married Oct. 23, 1943, and spent 65 years together.
They are survived by their children, Dale Hamblin and his wife, Anne, William Hamblin and his wife, Anne; six grandchildren, Heather, Hillary, Haleigh, Michael Anderson, Tamara Rozhon and Jane Walker; and six great-grandchildren.
Norma Hamblin is also survived by her sister, Arwana Dickerson. David is also survived by his brother, Raymond Hamblin; and his sister, Delores Wilson.
They were preceded in death by their brothers, Edward "Bud" Hamblin and Calvin Cook.
The service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 10 S. Lake St., Mundelein. The family will receive friends for an hour before the service time.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, 100 Tri-State International Parkway, Lincolnshire, Ill., 60069. Kristan Funeral Home of Mundelein is in charge of arrangements.
