BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Charlea L. "Peggy" Harwood, 84, of Broken Arrow, Okla., formerly a longtime Parsons resident, died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2012, at the Sterling House surrounded by her children and grandchildren at Broken Arrow.

She was born Sept. 13, 1927, at Columbus a daughter of Johnny Ike and Frances Ann (Sales) Crain. She was raised in Columbus and graduated from high school there. She moved to Parsons in the early 1950s and was employed at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant as a line supervisor. She moved to Broken Arrow, Okla., in 2006 to be with her daughter.

On Sept. 2, 1945, she married Robert C. "Bob" Harwood at Fredonia. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1990.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Parsons. She was active in her church and enjoyed gardening and crafts. She was also a loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include two sons, Larry D. Harwood and his wife, Dianne, of Montgomery, Texas, and Carlos Duane Harwood of Farmington, Mo.; a daughter, Becky Saliba and her husband, Darren, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harlin Crain of Pittsburg; and a sister, Wamyth Geasland of Springfield, Mo.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, seven sisters and one great-grandson.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Parsons. Burial will be in the McKee Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home.
