GIRARD — Leota A. Little, 75, of Girard, formerly of Walnut, died at 12:31 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, in the Girard Medical Center, where she was surrounded by her family.

She was born Jan. 3, 1937, in Chicago a daughter of Kenneth and Maudie (Lane) Corn. She grew up in Girard and graduated from Girard High School in 1955.

In her early years she worked for Higgie’s Drug Store, the Cozy Theater and Rexall Drug Store, all of Girard.

She married Joseph C. “Joe” Little on Nov. 24, 1956, in Waconda, Ill.  He preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 2001.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Walnut and she was president of the Ladies Altar Society.

Leota and Joe co-owned and operated Little’s Feed and Implement at Walnut.

She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, reading, working crossword puzzles and TV game shows.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Dent and her companion, Don McGowen, of Walnut and Marcia Little and her companion, Pat Smith, of Oswego; five sons, Ron Little and his wife, Nealette, of Parsons, Ken Little and his wife, Connie, of Girard, Bob Little and his wife, Mary Jo, of Walnut, Randy Little and his wife, Donna, of Girard, and Dan Little of Walnut; 15 grandchildren, Dusty Little, Tyler Little, Keri Little, Brice Little, Andy Dent, Cassie Horton, Kayla Giefer, Craig Little, Brett Little, Jessica Little, Cheryl Bishop, Ashley Little, Morgan Little, Seth Little and Tiffany McClintick; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Rose Slankard of Rockton, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Marie Little; a son, Christopher John Little; and her brothers, Edgar ”Bud” Corn and Walter “Punk” Corn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul with the Rev. Thomas Leland officiating.  Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery at Walnut. The rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at St. Francis Church in St. Paul, where family will receive friends following the rosary. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. today at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.

Memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House or Girard Medical Center Foundation and these may be left at the church or the funeral home, 518 W. St. John, P.O. Box 258, Girard, 66743.
