Mildred G. Clark, 96, of Parsons died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Elmhaven West.

She was born on Oct. 10, 1915, in Parsons to Herbert and Ethel (Baker) Sears. She grew up and attended schools in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School and Parsons Junior College. She attended Pittsburg State Teachers College. For many years she taught schools, mostly in Labette County, and taught at Mound Valley Grade School before retiring in 1976.

She married Lynn R. Clark on May 23, 1942, in Parsons. They owned and operated Clark’s Barn used furniture store in Parsons for many years.К He preceded her in death on June 30, 1992.К

She enjoyed working puzzles and eating fried chicken.КShe especially enjoyed family gatherings and visiting with friends. She had attended the Church of the Brethren in Parsons.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Dorothy Wayshner of Melbourne, Fla.; two stepgrandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.КFriends may call after 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
