BAXTER SPRINGS — Mickey W. Rice Sr., 58, of Baxter Springs died early Friday, May 18, 2012, at his home. He had been in his usual health, and death was not expected.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1954, in Wichita to Kenneth D. Rice Sr. and Thelma Nadine (Oaks) Rice. He grew up and attended school in Harrison, Ark.

He worked as a truck driver for numerous years.

He married Lori George on Feb. 8, 2003, in Rocky Comfort, Mo. She preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 2009.

Survivors include three sons, Allen Rice of the home, Preston Rice of Hollis, Okla., and Mickey Wayne Rice Jr. of West Fork, Ark.; three daughters, Roxana Ziegler of Baxter Springs, Becky Marks of Joplin and April Burrows of Quapaw, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; three brothers, Terry Rice of California, Kenneth Rice II of Monett, Mo., and Ronnie Rice of El Paso, Texas; and three sisters, Sherry Vance of North Glen, Colo., Yellonda Cannon of Oswego and Robin Huntzinger of Chelsea, Okla.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother and a granddaughter, Alishia Rice.

The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
