ST. PAUL — Norbert E. Lero, 87, of St. Paul died at 3:34 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, in the emergency room at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.

He was born June 2, 1924, at Piqua to Joseph and Anna (Collins) Lero. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from St. Paul High School.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He married Norene M. Beller on Jan. 27, 1950. She preceded him in death on April 7, 1991. They lived in Shawnee from 1950 until he moved to St. Paul in 1992.

He married Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Born) Willson on June 1, 1996, in St. Paul. She survives of the home.  

He worked as a metal finisher for General Motors Corp.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul, the Retired United Auto Workers and the American Legions in Kansas City and Shawnee.     

He loved being with his family and enjoyed camping, boating and fishing.

Other survivors are five sons, Patrick Norbert Lero of Forest Park, Ga., Edward Martin Lero and his wife, Shirlee, of St. Paul, Paul Allen Lero, Leonard Joseph Lero and his wife, Denyse, and Michael Thomas Lero and his wife, Janet, all of Shawnee; a daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Lero of Frontenac; a stepson, Tommy Corley and his wife, Shelley, of Arma; a stepdaughter, Tammy Moody and her husband, Mark, of Farlington; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Mary Jurgensmeier, Annie Eaton, both of St. Paul, Evelyn Mosier of McClouth, Sister Agnes Lero of Chanute and Claire Rees of Cherokee.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph, Meryl and Thomas Lero; and a sister, Sister Margaret Lero.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul with the Rev. Thomas Leland officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in St. Paul with military honors provided by Carter-Norris Post No. 116, American Legion, of St. Paul.

The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church, where the family will receive friends following the rosary. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in St. Paul.
