He was born on Nov. 14, 1921, in Chetopa to George W. and Bertha Alice (Turnbough) Kepford. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in Chetopa.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a postal clerk, retiring in 1972.
He married Alma Louise Riley on Nov. 21, 1948, in Oswego. She survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dennis Kepford of Chetopa; two daughters, Deborah Diehl of Rich Hill, Mo., and Brenda G. Myers of Carl Junction, Mo.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Tuesday until service time at the church.
