Carolyn Kay Browne, 68, of Parsons died at 4 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2012, at her home. She had been in failing health.

She was born Oct. 16, 1943, at Fredonia to Glenn Dale and Crystal M. (McPherson) Jump.

She moved in 1946 with her family to Parsons, where she grew up and attended school. She attended Parsons High School and then Labette County High School, from which she graduated in 1961. She worked at Parsons State Hospital and Training Center for several years until retiring.

She enjoyed crocheting and other needlework. She also enjoyed fishing and playing bingo as well as spending time with her family and friends.

She was baptized at the former Central Avenue Christian Church and had most recently attended Parsons Foursquare Church.

Survivors include two sons, James G. Browne and his wife, Beverly, and Gregg A. Browne, all of Parsons; three grandchildren, Craig, Stephanie and Molly Browne; her mother, Crystal Jump of the home; three brothers, Richard Jump and his wife, Ella Mae, of Topeka, Gary Jump and his wife, Pai, of Lawrence and Thomas Jump and his wife, Darlene, of Missouri City, Texas; and a sister, Glenda Stice and her husband, Norman, of Parsons.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
