Elizabeth Emma French (wpc)
FAIRVIEW, Okla. -- Elizabeth Emma French, 88, of Fairview, Okla., a former Thayer resident, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 20, 2009, at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview.
She was born March 18, 1920, near Quinter to Charles Sydney and Minnie Ellen (Jamison) Williams. She grew up near Quinter and attended schools there. She resided in Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Oklahoma and California before moving to Thayer.
She married Wayne Hathaway French on Oct. 31, 1937, at Manzanola, Colo. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1991.
Elizabeth was a longtime resident of Thayer and a homemaker. She also worked part-time at the Brooks Floral Shop.
She was a member of Thayer Christian Church, where she participated in a Ladies Bible study group. She enjoyed making quilts and homemade bread for people.
She is survived by her children, Nora Lane, and her husband, Roy, of Everett, Wash., Warren Wayne French, and his wife, Doris Jone, of Rose Hill, Nancy Nelson, and her husband, Herb, of Fairview, Okla., Wendell French of Longdale, Okla., Jerry French, and his wife, Katt, of Forsyth, Mo., Susan Cox, and her husband, Gene, of Thayer and Keith French, and his wife, Lisa, of Longdale, Okla.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two granddaughters, two grandsons, and a daughter-in-law.
The service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Thayer Christian Church. Burial will follow at Thayer Cemetery. Friends may call Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons at their convenience.
