He was born on Oct. 15, 1952, at Oswego to Cecil and Bonnie (Collins) Goodnight. He traveled with his family while his father worked in the construction industry when he was young before settling in the Parsons area at age 14. He graduated from Labette County High School in 1970 and Labette Community College in 1972. He later attended Wichita State University and the University of Kansas.
He worked as an electrical engineer at TecTank, Cobalt Boats, MEC in Parsons and for Purina Foods at Sheridan, Wyo.
Larry loved family get-togethers and helping people. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and all kinds of sports.
Survivors include his mother, Bonnie Goodnight of Parsons; two sisters, Carol Martin, and her husband, John, of Checotah, Okla., and Sandy Farran, and her husband, Bob, of Roach, Mo.; two brothers, Glen Goodnight, and his wife, Susan, of Belleville, Ill., and Gary Goodnight, and his wife, Connie, of Parsons; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Goodnight.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery. The family received friends on Monday.
