Rose Etta Cutshall, 91, of Parsons died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Parsons Good Samaritan Society.

She was born May 10, 1920, in rural Labette County on the family farm to James Luther and Rose Florence (Fowler) Plummer. She spent much of her childhood in Mound Valley, where she graduated high school.

She then moved to Parsons, where she attended college. There she met and later married Ralph Emery Cutshall on May 4, 1940. Many years of their marriage were spent following construction jobs before settling in Parsons, where they raised their daughters.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren remember her as being loving, sweet, honest and fair, as well as always being willing to stop and play a game or read a book to them. When they got older, she was always there to lend a hand when needed. “Aunt Rosie” often helped with her nieces and nephews, as well. Her Christian example was a shining light to her friends and family.

First in her life was her love of the Lord. She was a faithful student of the Bible and active in the Church of Christ, rarely missing a worship service. She was a Bible class teacher until she was well into her 70s. She always looked for opportunities to help anyone in any way she could, whether it be cleaning house, babysitting, cooking, sitting with the sick or just being a quiet sympathetic ear. She was truly a precious soul.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Nelson and husband, Roy, rural Parsons, and Marilyn Seifert and husband, John, Katy, Texas; eight grandchildren, Kevin Nelson and wife, Jane, Mannford, Okla., Kelley Manley and husband, Jayson, Parsons, Keith Nelson, Mannford, Okla., Michelle Gaddie and husband, Jeff, Oklahoma City, Jon Clarke and wife, Jenny, Farmington, N.M., Brent Seifert and wife, Jennifer, Katy, Texas, Andrea Walker and husband, Murry, Round Rock, Texas, and Laura Seifert, Katy, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren, Jessica Irwin and husband, Brad, Mannford, Okla., Rebekah Harner and husband, Kyle, Mannford, Okla., Alysia Nelson, Mannford, Okla., Morgan, Chelsea and Colby Manley, Parsons, Lily, Ella and Jake Seifert, Katy, Texas, and Ashley Walker, Round Rock, Texas; one great-great-granddaughter, Kaylynn Harner, Mannford, Okla.; and two great-great-grandchildren are “on the way.”
