Edith B. Dick, 90, a longtime Parsons resident, died at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons.

She was born on Nov. 22, 1921, at Centerville to John and Ethel (Campbell) Johnson. The family moved to Altamont, where she grew up and attended Altamont schools. She graduated from Labette County Community High School.

She married Max Dick on Aug. 6, 1939, at Oswego at the home of a family friend. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2012.

She was a homemaker and later worked at The Broderick Co. as the corporate secretary/treasurer for 20 years.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Parsons. She enjoyed fishing, camping and playing cards. She volunteered at Labette Health as a pink lady in the gift shop. She was also a member and treasurer of the TOPS organization.

Survivors include her son, Dan Dick and his wife, Marlene, of Lawrence; two daughters, Janet Shears of Parsons and Marsha Anderson and her husband, Larry, of Valrico, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Roxanne Garland; a great-grandson, Max Pennington; her brothers, Darrell Johnson and Jack Johnson; a sister, Edla Willet; and a son-in-law, Larry Shears.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Faith United Methodist Church and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, 67357.
