OSWEGO — Ruth Delyte Cook, 93, a resident of the Home Place in Oswego, died at 7:35 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at the Oswego Community Hospital.

She was born Oct. 18, 1918, at rural West Mineral to John A. and Ruth (Todd) Allen. She grew up in that area and attended the Stone City Grade School and then graduated from the West Mineral High School.

On Oct. 5, 1942, she married Walter N. Cook at the Methodist Church parsonage in Columbus. For many years they lived on a farm near Oswego and in later years lived in Parsons. Mr. Cook preceded her in death on June 4, 2004. She had been in the assisted living facility in Oswego nearly five years.

Mrs. Cook loved to quilt and she enjoyed the senior citizen dances. While living at her home in Parsons, she loved her backyard and the many flowers she grew there. She had attended Parsons Foursquare Church.

Survivors include four sons, Larry W. Cook and his wife, Vicky, Fred Cook, all of Parsons, Robert A. Cook and his wife, Opal, of Altamont and Paul Cook and his wife, Debra, of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Ruth E. Martin and her husband, Mike, of Parsons; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a brother, John D. Allen of Houston; and two sisters, Erlene Spriggs of Parsons and Eilene Dillinger and her husband, Wayne, of Scammon.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Allen and Clinton Allen; and two sisters, Darlene Foley and Fern Taylor.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Mitchell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
