Roy M. Brinson, 68, of Parsons died at 5:53 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at Labette Health.

He was born Jan. 30, 1944, in Lexington, Neb., to Wilton William and Glenrose Ethel (McCarter) Brinson. As a youth, he moved with his family to Winlock, Wash., where he attended schools.

He served in the Army from 1961 to 1964. Upon his honorable discharge, he lived in Springfield, Mo., Winona, Miss., and Missouri, where he operated a roofing business. After moving to Parsons in 1972, he worked for the Katy Railroad for 15 years and Columbian TecTank 18 years before retiring in April 2011.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and playing softball. He also enjoyed playing pool and bowling.

He married Kathy Woods on Dec. 30, 1965, in Winona, Miss. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Phillip Brinson and his wife, Katie, Steven Brinson and Daniel Brinson and his wife, Ruth, all of Parsons; a daughter, Tammy Bruner and her husband, Eric, of Parsons; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Brinson and Phillip Brinson, both of Moxee, Wash.; and three sisters, Gloria Moon of Yakima, Wash., Charlotte Kimsey of Moxee, Wash., and Marcia Huckabee of Miami, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Charlie Joe Brinson.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery with military honors given by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
