IOLA — Catherine "Kate" Emert of Iola died at the home of her daughter Monday, Feb. 13, 2012.
She and her family moved to Iola in 1961. She worked at H.L. Miller's and then was office manager at Columbia Metal Products for 24 years, retiring in 1993.
She was a member of Kappa Alpha Sorority and enjoyed her hobbies of bowling, quilting, ceramics and china painting.
Survivors include two daughters, Becky Shinn and her husband, Alan, of Uniontown and Gale Ludlum of the home; grandchildren, Tony and Jennifer Emert, Parsons, Kevin and Diana Shinn, Uniontown, Melissa and Jason Gage, Louisburg, Kathi and Jason Yokum, Humboldt, Diana and Tony Yanez, Parsons, Chris Vernon, Eastland, Texas, Mary Jo and Allan Beiter, Lenexa, and Lawrence Yates, Houston; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leona of Phoenix and Lorene of Bartlesville, Okla.; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Phil; her mother; father; five brothers; and her children's father, Dale E. Emert.
Following cremation, a Celebration of Life visitation will at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to Allen County Healthcare Foundation (Hospice or Home Health) or Iola Public Library and left with the funeral home.
