BRANDON, Miss. — Mary Jo Robison, 85, of Brandon, Miss., formerly of  Parsons, died at 4:10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Miss.

She was born on April 26, 1926, in South Mound to John Omer and Mary Olive (Pontious) Johnston. She grew up in the South Mound area and was a graduate of St. Paul High School.

For a time, she worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons.

On April 10, 1947, she married Vester “Vic” Robison in Arkansas City. In 1950, they moved to Parsons, where they lived for a few years before moving to the Chanute and Earlton area, where they farmed. They then lived in Altamont for a time before moving to Jackson, Miss. In 1983, they returned to Parsons. Mr. Robison preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 2002. In 2006, she moved to Jackson, Miss., to be near family.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Parsons and, in earlier years, had served as an active volunteer at various church gatherings. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include a son, V. H. “Robbie” Robison III of Raymond, Miss.; three daughters, Vickie Aikins of Carl Junction, Mo., Linda Cotton of Brandon, Miss., and Karen Maitlen of Harker Heights, Texas; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Johnston of Vinita, Okla., and Don Johnston of Cherryvale; four sisters, Margie Burzinski and Rita Horton, both of Parsons, Olive Haight of Chanute and Mignon Yates of Glen Burnie, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John “Bud” Johnston; three sisters, Patricia Nelson, Dorothy Treiber and Catherine Johnston; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Alice Robison.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Fort Scott National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
