Judy C. Arabia, 66, of Parsons died at 3:53 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Labette Health in Parsons.

She was born on Sept. 10, 1945, in Parsons to Carl Allen and Myrtle (Whinery) Shue. As a young girl, she grew up in Galesburg and later moved to Parsons, where she was a 1963 graduate of Parsons High School.

On Aug. 24, 1963, she married John A. Arabia at Central Avenue Christian Church in Parsons. From 1963 to 1966, the couple lived in Pittsburg, before moving to Joliet, Ill., where they lived until 1972. They then moved to Colorado Springs, then southern California until 1977 and finally northern California before returning to Parsons in 2005.

She was a former member of Central Avenue Christian Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking and shooting machine guns and was an advocate for handicapped rights.

survivors include her husband, John A. Arabia, of the home; her mother, Myrtle Shue of Parsons; two sons, John Arabia and his wife, Nicole, Vacaville, Calif., and Jeff Arabia and his wife, Patti, of Fairfield, Calif.; a former daughter-in-law, Lisa Aston of Vacaville, Calif.; eight grandchildren; a brother, the Rev. Claude Shue, who is serving in Afghanistan, and his wife, Mary, of Kingfisher, Okla.; and a sister, Debbie Gordon and her husband, Kevin, of Welch, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Shue; and a brother, Leroy Shue.

The service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Parsons and officiated by her brother, the Rev. Claude Shue. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
