SAN ANTONIO — Helen Irene Rumbel, 97, of San Antonio, an accomplished pianist and community volunteer, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012.

She was born Oct. 24, 1914, in Parsons.

On Dec. 15, 1934, she married Joe E. Rumbel. They were married 63 years. He preceded her in death.

Her inquiring mind, sense of humor, persistent nature and indomitable spirit will be missed by all.

Survivors include daughters, Linda J. Murray and her husband, William, Bette L. Richards and her husband, Darryl, and Nancy S. Rabin and her husband, Ronald; grandchildren, Heather M. Davis and her husband, Bob, Michael T. Murray, Helen M. De Leon and her husband, David, Aaron F. Rabin and Elana M. Rabin; and great-grandchildren, Nicola C. Davis, R. Alex Davis, Michael T. Murray Jr., Andrew T. Murray and Hunter A. De Leon.

A memorial celebration will be at a future date. Burial is at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio.

The family suggests memorials to a musical organization or a charity.
