LENEXA — Harold Jerome Gouvion, 79, of Lenexa, died on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at his house.

Harold was born in South Mound and grew up in Southeast Kansas. He was a 1950 graduate of St. Francis High School in St. Paul.

He had many occupations throughout his life, farming, machinist at Boeing, car mechanic and driver/dockman. He retired with Teamster’s Local 41. In retirement, Harold worked caring for animals.

He enjoyed talking about his family and growing up in rural Kansas. Harold especially loved hunting and fishing with his wife, sons and grandsons.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Florence.

Survivors include his sons, Steven Gouvion and his wife, Linda, and Jeff Gouvion, all of Overland Park; two daughters, Lori Cohen and her husband, Scott, of Las Vegas and Teresa Johnson of Overland Park; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Harold will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kansas City, Kan. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Cremation will follow the services.

Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans or breast cancer awareness.
