He was born on June 4, 1950, at Walnut to Joseph Darl and Dorothy Irene (Reece) Kelsey. He was raised in Walnut.
After completing high school, he attended a vocational school for a year. He worked as a contractor.
On June 24, 1988, he married Linda Ashenbrenner-Hoerle at Miami, Okla. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Jason Hoerle of Erie and Douglas J. Kelsey of Fort Scott; three daughters, Lisa Knoblich of LaHarp, Laura Berry of Altamont and Casey Laird of Fort Scott; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two sisters, Barbara Skorjanc and Donna Cunningham, both of McCune.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Kelsey Jr. in 1948 and Donnie Kelsey in 1970; and a sister, Sharyl Kelsey in 1991.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Walnut United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Walnut Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home at Erie.
