John P. Lucke, 63, of Parsons died at 10:48 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at Labette Health in Parsons.

He was born in Chanute to Howard and Edna (McGowan) Lucke. As a young boy, he grew up in Erie and attended schools in Erie and Parsons. Through the years, he worked as a carpenter and had assisted with farm work.

He had attended the Methodist Church and was an associate member of George L. Hendricks Post No. 102, American Legion, in Erie. He enjoyed dancing, listening to music, drag races and model cars.

Survivors include a daughter, Sky LeeAnn Lucke of Parsons; four brothers, Jack Lucke of Buffalo, Jerry Lucke of Mulberry, Joe Lucke of Chanute and Jim Lucke of Parsons; two sisters, Dee Haviland and Ike Edwards, both of Parsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Lucke, on May 18, 1970; his mother, Edna Lucke, on Aug. 23, 2002; and three sisters, Mary Samson on Feb. 12, 2007, and infants Virginia and Patsy Lucke.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
