PITTSBURG — Gerald Gene Edwards, 67, of Pittsburg, formerly of Erie, died at 7:10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, in the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg where he entered Nov. 10.

He was born Nov. 25, 1943, in Erie, a son of Cecil and Geraldine (Prickett) Edwards. He grew up and attended school in Erie and graduated from Erie High School.

He worked for various construction companies and retired from Schueck Steel Co. in Little Rock, Ark., in 2009.

He enjoyed his family, fishing, singing and playing the guitar, and playing golf.

He was a member of the Erie Masonic Lodge No. 76 of Erie.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Edwards and his wife, Janice, of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; a daughter, Angel Edwards of Mediapolis, Iowa; his mother, Geraldine Edwards of Pittsburg; four sisters, Phyllis Merrell, Pat McGuire, both of Pittsburg, Joyce Honeycutt of South Coffeyville, Okla., and Donna Fields of Claremore, Okla.; and four grandchildren, James Michael Edwards, Kayla Deann Edwards, Lane Evan Millar and Taylor Nathaniel Edwards.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sunset Amber Edwards; his father, Cecil Edwards; a brother, Bill Edwards; and two sisters, Frances Galvin and Glenna Klenklen.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Erie with Rev. Paul Elliott officiating. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery at Erie with Masonic rites given by the Erie Masonic Lodge No.76.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Mirza Shrine and these may be left at the funeral home, 303 N. Grant, Erie, 66733.
