DERBY — Margarett L. Stroup, 94, of Derby, a longtime former Erie resident, died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, at the Derby Rehabilitation Center at Derby.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1917, at Savonburg to Samuel and Martha (Beckstein) Williamson. She grew up at Chanute and attended schools there.
She married Willis “Brownie” Stroup on Feb. 7, 1937, at Fredonia. He preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 2003.
She was a homemaker and resided at the same home in Erie for 63 years before moving to Derby.
She was a member of the First Christian Church at Erie, the George L. Hendricks Post No. 102, American Legion, and its Ladies Auxiliary, and the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and flowers.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Hart and her husband, Larry, of Derby and Martha Tabb and her husband, Tom, of Joplin; a foster son, Don Malcolm of Parsons; four grandchildren, Amanda Hart of Olathe, Carrie Moore of St. Louis, Aaron Tabb of Joplin and Jody Malcolm of Parsons; and a great-grandson, Samuel Moore.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three sisters.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Erie. Burial will follow in the East Hill Cemetery at Erie. Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie.
