PITTSBURG -- Onether Marie Grayson, 69, of Pittsburg died on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at her home.

Marie was born May 18, 1939, in Yale to Elder Walter and Ruby Beatrice (Evans) Dorsey Sr. She attended area schools, including Kansas State Teacher's College and Labette County Community College. She was employed at SEK-CAP/Head Start from 1968 until the present.

She married Edward (Sonny) Blurton Jr. and the union later ended. From that union five children were born. She later married Clarence J. Grayson on Oct. 31, 1970; he survives of the home. Of that union one child was born.

Other survivors include her children, Gloria Jeanny Meadows of Pittsburg, Selena Darlene Strawn of Rowlett, Texas, Serena Beatrice Brown of Dallas, Edward W. Blurton of Parsons, Elizabeth Bernice Shelby of Garland, Texas, Sallye Irene West of St. Louis, Jerome Strickland of Carthage, Mo., and Regina Gentry of Joplin; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sisters, Deloris Mae Jackson of Pittsburg and Bettie Louis Pillar of Columbus; and her brother, Darrell Mansfield Dorsey of Pittsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lighthouse Temple Church of God in Christ, 202 W. Ninth St., Pittsburg.
