DeLores Shane, 89, of Parsons died at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at Labette Health. She had been a resident of the Elmhaven East more than four years.

She was born Dec. 20, 1921, at Council Grove to Arthur Richard and Esther Anna Ruth (Carson) Reid. She grew up in Junction City and graduated from the Junction City High School in 1940.

On Sept. 25, 1940, she married Harvey L. Shane at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Clark’s Creek near Junction City.

The Shanes moved to Parsons in 1950. Mr. Shane was a locomotive engineer for the Katy Railroad and preceded her in death on March 2, 1991. They celebrated a loving marriage of 50 years.

Mrs. Shane was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid and of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. She had been a Pink Lady at the Labette County Medical Center in Parsons. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Wilkerson of Parsons and Nona Boyd and her husband, Brian, of Shawnee (formerly of Independence); four grandchildren, Julie Holt and her husband, Cliff, of Shawnee, Becky Cole and her husband, Kevin, of Parsons, Jeremy Boyd and his wife, Sonda, of Hayden, Colo., and Amy Woodward and her husband, Landon, of Neodesha; and eight great-grandchildren, Mary Welch, Hannah Holt, Holly Holt, Carly Cole, Madison Cole, Emma Woodward, Alex Boyd and Brock Woodward.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and a son-in-law, Ron Wilkerson, on July 17, 2010.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the funeral home this afternoon and evening.
