He was born in rural St. Paul to Phillip and Grace (Coomes) Clarkin. He taught school in St. Paul and Erie several years before becoming owner of School and Park Supply Co. in Wichita.
He is survived his wife, Mary Kay Clarkin of Chandler.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Clarkin; a sister; and three brothers.
The service will be on Tuesday at St. Steven’s Catholic Church, Chandler, Ariz. A graveside service will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Wichita. Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery of Chandler is in charge of arrangements.
