SHILOH, Ill. — Taylor E. Day Jr., 71, of Shiloh, Ill., a former Parsons resident, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at his home.

He was born in Parsons on May 26, 1940, to Taylor and Roberta (Read) Day. He attended Parsons schools, graduating from Parsons High School in 1958. He also attended Labette Community College and graduated from Pittsburg State University.

He married Barbara Lyon Diehl in 1967. She preceded him in death in 2000.

He married Amparito Herrera in 2006. She survives of the home.

He worked at the Defense Mapping Agency in St. Louis for 27 years.

Other survivors include a son, Taylor E. Day III of Swansea, Ill.; a daughter, Valerie L. Goodrich of Chicago; a stepson, Andres Ruiz; a stepdaughter, Andrea Ruiz; and five grandchildren, Billy, Jimmy and Jack Goodrich and Danielle and Alex Day.

Following cremation, the service will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Greenhaven Cremation Chapel in Fairview Heights, Ill. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. Carson-Wall Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be left at or sent to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, 67357.
