ERIE — Timothy J. “T.J.” Jacobs, 64, of Erie died Wednesday evening, Sept. 7, 2011, at his home.

He was born on April 21, 1947, in Baltimore to William Hamlen and Ethel Delores (Imhoff) Jacobs. He grew up and attended school in Glen Burnie, Md. Following high school, he lived and worked in Maryland several years.

He married Robin M. Klenklen on Dec. 9, 1988, in Annapolis, Md. In 1993, they moved to Erie, where they had lived since.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Erie, the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society in Maryland. He loved drag racing and had been a racecar driver for several years. He especially enjoyed traveling up and down the coast during his racing years. He also enjoyed flower gardening, especially roses.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Jacobs, of the home; a daughter, Danielle Jacobs of the home; his mother, Ethel Jacobs of Erie; two brothers, Michael Jacobs of Owings Mills, Md., and William Jacobs of Pasadena, Md; and two sisters, Eileen Beacham of Aiden, N.C., and Elizabeth DeMoss of Erie.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Erie. The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at the church, where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
