LoRene Elizabeth Schaal, 96, of Overland Park died at Manor Care on Tuesday morning, Aug. 30, 2011.
She was born in Chanute on March 14, 1915, to Eddie and Geneva (Burton) Gibson.
She married Willis C. Schaal on July 2, 1938, in the First Presbyterian Church of Parsons.They lived in Parsons many years and owned and operated Western Glass Co. in Parsons. She also worked as a cosmetologist, operating her own business in Cherryvale. She also had been employed at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons. After retirement LoRene and Willis spent time on Monkey Island, Okla., and Parsons. Mr. Schaal died on May 31, 1991, and after his death she moved to Kansas City to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Due to health reasons, in 2003 she moved into the Manor Care of Overland Park.
Survivors include two daughters, Claudette Patterson and her husband, Kit, and Marya Sue Harrington, all of Kansas City, Kan.; three grandchildren, Tonia Jane Steinmeyer and Brad, Tabrina Sue Harrington and Chad Edward Harrington and Natalie; and seven great-grandchildren, Chase, Caitlyn and Cameron Harrington, Kaila, Karsten and Bradley Steinmeyer and Fletcher Harrington.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tamara Elizabeth Harrington; and brothers, Lester, Edward and Raymond Gibson.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friend beginning at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons.
