GALESBURG — Linda L. “Lynn” Beard, 67, lifelong resident of the Galesburg and Parsons areas, died at 3:26 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at Labette Health in Parsons. Death was unexpected.
She was born Dec. 20, 1943, in Parsons to Ralph F. and Erma Lea (Horn) Carson. She attended school in Galesburg and graduated from the Galesburg High School in 1961.
On March 13, 1961, she married John E. Beard at the Galesburg United Methodist Church. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this year and John survives of the home.
She was employed nearly 20 years at the Fred Ronald Manufacturing Co. in Parsons and for the past 30 years has worked as a receptionist for CST Storage (formerly TecTank) in Parsons.
She was an active member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church and was city clerk for the city council of Galesburg. She enjoyed raising flowers, collecting dolls and working at her job. She also enjoyed doing ceramics, painting, bowling and playing bunco. Most of all she loved helping her family and serving others in need.
Other survivors include a son, Frank Beard and his wife, Teresa, of Galesburg; two daughters, Wendy Moses and her husband, Jerry, of Erie and Terri Winkler and her husband, Ron, of Galesburg; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her mother, Erma Lea Carson of Parsons.
She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Larry Carson and Dale Carson; and a sister, Victoria Sue Toland.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Galesburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
