INDEPENDENCE — Lula L. Ford, 85, of Independence died on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Independence.

She was born on Aug. 31, 1925, in Fort Gibson, Okla., to George and Annie (Petit) Ford. She attended school in Fort Gibson and in Parsons.

She was a housekeeper for various doctors in Parsons.

Survivors include her sister, Ethel Lewis of Independence; a niece, Maelene Wilson of Independence; and two nephews, Petit Ford and Denny Wise, both of Fort Smith, Ark.

She was preceded in death by two nephews she raised, Louie Reece and Lawrence Reece.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel, Independence. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
