Joy Y. Lindeberg, 63, a lifelong resident of Parsons, died at 1:33 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on Nov. 16, 1947, in Parsons to Obed B. and Reta M. (Van Houten) Cramer. She grew up and attended schools in Parsons, where she was a 1965 graduate of Parsons High School and later earned an associate’s degree from Labette Community College. 

She served in the U.S. Army Reserves for four years. In 1989, she began working at Wal-Mart and in 2008 became a pharmacy technician at Wal-Mart pharmacy. 

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Parsons, FCE Morning Glory extension group and United Way, where she had served as board member for numerous years. Joy especially enjoyed doing volunteer work at her church and being involved in community activities.

She married Johnny Paulson in April 1966. They later divorced.

She married Roy Lindeberg on Nov. 10, 1981, in Parsons. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Michael A. Paulson and his wife, Diana, and Russell W. Paulson and his wife, LeAnne, all of Rockford, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Kathy A. Lindeberg of Parsons; five grandchildren, Carlea’ Ann Brothers, Matt and Megan Gabel, Jessica Lewandowski and Alec Smith; a great-granddaughter, MiKayla Cheer; and two brothers, John M. Cramer and his wife, Cindy, of Manhattan and C. Dean Cramer and his wife, Peggy, of Parsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepson, Bryan Lindeberg.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
