Thomas M. “Tom” Lero, 77, of Parsons died at 7:45 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2011, in Parsons.
He was born March 13, 1934, at St. Paul to Joseph and Anna (Collins) Lero. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from St. Francis High School.
He lived in Parsons during his early adult years and was employed by the Meadow Gold Dairy. He lived in Wichita from 1975 to 1996 and worked for Meadow Gold and later Steffen’s Dairy. In 1996 he returned to St. Paul and worked for O’Brien Rock Co. He also drove a school bus for CUSD 101. In July 2009 he returned to Parsons.
He married Regina “Tiny” Klenklen on Aug. 8, 1953, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Erie. She preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 1968. He married Donna Brewer Hayes on Aug. 2, 1969, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2002. He married Joan Hedrick Stich on Dec. 20, 2003, at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. She survives of the home.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons and of St. Paul Council No. 760, Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Farrell and her husband, Steve, of Parsons, Chrystie Limes and her husband, Chris, of Wiesbaden, Germany, and Mary Mayes and her husband, Rob, of Hesston; seven stepdaughters, Susan Boss and her husband, Doug, Julie Hernandez and her husband, Ed Jr., Diane Wilmoth, all of Parsons, Mary Bridget Ross and her husband, Rick, of Chandler, Ariz., Jennie Lamb of Burleson, Texas, Debra Stich of Dallas and Joanie Cook of Tulsa; seven grandchildren, Ryan Limes and his wife, Holly, Collin Limes and his fiancee, Amy Morrison, Katie Farrell, Brendan Heaton, Candace Shields and her husband, Jay, Trent Wilmoth and Ashley Cook; five great-grandchildren, Connor Limes, Mariana Shields, Angelica Gonzalez, Allyssa Wilmoth and Hailey Wilmoth; nine stepgrandchildren, Steven Boss, Corbett Boss, Bridget Hernandez, DeAnna Hernandez, Wilson Lamb, Kevin Lamb, Kevin Ross, Kelly Ross and Jason Ross; a brother, Norbert Lero and his wife, Betty, of St. Paul; five sisters, Mary Jurgensmeyer , Annie Eaton, both of St. Paul, Evelyn Mosier and her husband, Charles, of McLouth, Clara Reese and her husband, John, of Cherokee and Sister Agnes Lero of Chanute; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Lero of Erie.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in St. Paul. The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, after which the family will receive friends until 8 p.m.
