OSWEGO — Darlene Sinclair, 79, of Oswego died at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Deseret Nursing and Rehabilitation in Oswego.

She was born on Dec. 23, 1931, in rural Oswego to Forrest E. and Ruth (Pefley) Miksch. She graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont.

At 17, she married Harold Hellwig. She enjoyed helping him farm until he was killed in a car accident in 1954.

She attended Parsons Junior College in Parsons. For many years, she worked as a private nurse, including several years as a nurse’s aide in area nursing homes. In 1977, she moved to Houston.

She married Elmer "Chuck" Sinclair in 1981. He preceded her in death in 1990.

She was an avid reader. She loved crocheting baby blankets and even quilted her own bedspread.

Survivors include a son, Donald Hellwig and his wife, Helen, of Solomon; a daughter, Cyndee Hellwig of New Orleans; two granddaughters, Marcia Thompson and her husband, Len, of Parkville, Mo., and Diane Hellwig of Denver; two grandsons, Steven Hellwig and Kelly of Pittsburg and Ross and Lindsey Hellwig of Park City; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Duane Miksch of Princeton, Ky., and Dale Miksch of Coon Rapids, Iowa; and a sister, Deloris Mararity of Jefferson City, Mo.

In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Derfelt Funeral Home Chapel in Oswego with Pastor Dale Doerr of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oswego officiating. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery south of Oswego.
